Illusion or magical? [Kuala Selangor Sky Mirror]

Some say its an optical illusion. You know, the famous Trick-Eye museum, or those upside down house that is playing a trick.

Others say its a Magical Place overseas.

So what is this?

Its a optical illusion created by mother nature. But best of all, it is located in MALAYSIA!

Kuala Selangor "Sky Mirror" is sandbank or "island" in the Straits of Malacca just off the Kuala Selangor coastline. But this is no ordinary island: it is an incredibly popular spot for tourist due to its reflective qualities.

This Optical phenomenon is called "Sky Mirror" where the water is shallow enough that people can stand and take pictures with the reflection of the water similar to standing on a mirror.

The phenomenon is as same as the popularly known Bolivia's Salar De Uyuni in South America.

So, How to get there?

The Sky Mirror is also sometimes referred to as Sasaran Beach, as it is located near the Chinese fishing village Kampung Sasaran.

It is an hour away from Kuala Lumpur, or 40 minutes away from Sekinchan.

The nearest airport lies in Kuala Lumpur in the Sepang district of Malaysia.

However, Since the place has become so popular, and the time to see the "mirror" is minimal, it may be wise to get a tour package.

Tour packages will typically include speedboat trips to and from the jetty and the Sky Mirror, which would take about 30 minutes each direction.

WAIT!

Before you go, there is few things to take note of :
  1. This reflective phenomenon occurs only twice a month-during the new moon and the full moon-when the water levels are low enough to reveal the island. The place is then submerged in water at other times.
  2. The phenomenon emerges for 3 - 4 hours in the morning.
  3. You can see tiny crabs and other forms of sea life on the sand. Remember not to touch them, and let them just roam freely.
  4. There are no facilities at the sandbank (toilets, rubbish bins, etc.) so make sure you are ready for the trip before getting on the speedboat.
